CTA Montrose Station project

AAA Engineering designed the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and telecommunications system and lighting upgrades required for the installation of the new elevators at the CTA’s Montrose Station as part of the All-Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP).

The purpose of the ASAP Montrose Stations and Canopy Replacement Projects is to improve the vertical accessibility at the Montrose Blue Line Station on the CTA Blue Line O’Hare Branch. The renovation for the Montrose station will add two new elevators, an accessible route, and provide adequate clearance for wheelchairs and other mobility devices.

Work on this project upgrades elements of the station to current Chicago Building Code Requirements including an upgraded electrical system and enhanced lighting.

AAA Engineering provided a review of all existing electrical equipment for code compliance, suitability, and anticipated remaining lifespan. Load calculations will be completed for the existing equipment and anticipated new equipment, including the elevators. A recommendation on the approach to upgrading or replacing the equipment while maintaining operations will be provided, including a concept for new electrical and communication huts.
